The following reflection was shared by John Vornholt, Director of Asset Services, and is a representation of our team’s commitment to the RockStep Way.
There is no better way to realize a solution than to do it together. A collaborative effort through teamwork. It takes a special group to make this work. At RockStep we have just that. It often reminds me of this quote.
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, GO TOGETHER.”
At RockStep, we are a very small, close-knit family of people all working together with one common goal—to help our company grow. As each one of us is working well beyond our capacity we rely on each other to make ends meet. At overwhelming times, we push on knowing that each one of us is facing the same challenge.
Recently we were left with a temporary immediate need at a property. A group of us are stepping up and taking on this challenge. Through a teamwork approach, we have been able to keep this property functioning at a RockStep level.
Even though everyone at RockStep is always willing to step up and take on additional work, at times it can be overwhelming. We are often left thinking to ourselves, “I can’t do this, I am just one person and I am only capable of so much,” but we just keep forging on knowing that we are in this together and that we have each other. We may be a small group, but I would rather be surrounded by 10 people I can rely on than 100 people I barely even know.
When it comes to providing solutions, we do it through teamwork. Every decision, every success, every failure, we do it together. We don’t make excuses and don’t take time to pass blame, we keep pushing forward. When the time comes to work through a problem, we have 10 people raising their hand willing to do what they can instead of a group of people shrugging their shoulders saying “I don’t know” or “that’s not my department.” Through a collaborative effort, we figure it out.
As we watch the workforce revolutionize before our eyes, the lines of work duties are forever blurred and it is now an all-hands-on-deck approach. Within RockStep, we are all so thankful that we have each other. Everything starts and finishes with our team, our family of people. Teamwork is always the ultimate solution.
